The public site
What members and visitors see, how to share it, and what is never shown publicly.
Anyone with the address can see the public site; there is no member login. It is designed for a phone first and works well added to the home screen (the icon is your badge).
Pages
- Home: the next outing (date, course, first tee, price, a link to the tee times once published, how to pay), the last result and the championship top five.
- Events: the season's fixture card. Each event has its own page with the details; before it is played, who is playing with a paid tick per player — paid, part paid, deposit paid or not paid yet, never an amount (switchable in Settings → Public site); the result once saved (positions, scores, points, handicap before and after); and a Tee times page when the sheet is published.
- Standings: tabs for the Championship, Handicap movers, Nearest the pin, Long drive, the last-place competition (under your name for it) and Match play.
- Prizes: the season's prize list and winners.
- Sweep (when switched on): the current golf sweep — the entry form until the deadline, then the live table. See Golf sweeps.
- Pay: how to pay the society — Revolut link with a QR code and bank details, as entered in Settings.
The season switcher in the header shows past seasons; links with ?season=2025 open that year directly.
Sharing
- The site address itself, or a specific page: the event page before an outing, the tee times when they are published, the Pay page when fees are due.
- Add to Home Screen on iPhone (Share → Add to Home Screen) or Android (menu → Add to Home screen) gives members an app-like icon.
What is never public
- Members' email addresses, phone numbers, home clubs and notes.
- Members' statements and amounts. (Upcoming outings can show a plain paid / part paid / not-paid tick per player; the committee can switch that off.)
- The ledger, the kitty and the balance sheet.
- Course phone numbers, emails and notes.
- The planner side of an event: deposits, costs, booked numbers, admin notes.
The public site reads from a separate, column-by-column whitelist, so these cannot leak through a new page by accident.
Search engines
The admin and the Pay page are marked not to be indexed. The rest of the public site can be found by search engines, which most societies want for new members. Ask if you would rather the whole site were hidden from search.
